Children's Classes

Children can also benefit from practicing yoga, and besides, it's fun! Melanie's first children's class was held in a neighbor's pool house in 1997. She currently teaches beginning, intermediate and advanced classes for elementary students at School of the Woods and Post Oak School. She also designed a 60-hour high school yoga curriculum for Woods High which she has taught several times.

As the yoga instructor for the Houston Montessori Center, she trains Montessori interns to incorporate yoga in their early childhood classrooms. Melanie also offers children's classes and workshops through various non-profit organizations such as the Girl Scouts. Birthday parties are available as well.

Adult ClassesAdult Yoga

Melanie has documented well over 2000 hours of classroom experience and works with both children and adults. She has taught yoga to Montessori teachers at Post Oak School since 1999 and School of the Woods since 2001. Adult classes are based on the needs of the students, often include props, and tend to be therapeutic and supportive rather than athletic. Because many yoga practices can easily be incorporated into daily life, Melanie emphasizes ways to take yoga home after class is over.
